South Hill

South Hill is one of the very unique neighbourhoods that you're going to find in Red Deer. It has a population of around 2,900 and about 30% of the families residing in South Hill have children.

South Hill - Parks

Even though it's in the middle of the city, you don't feel like you're in the city. When you are in South Hill, bordering the east side is a treed area with walking trails that run along piper creek and there are a lot of farmland and greenfields. 

It is also surrounded by some of Red Deer’s great neighbourhoods like Sunnybrook, Bower and West Park. If you head north, you will reach Red Deer’s three main districts considered the downtown core and it has access to major highways.

South Hill - Types of Homes

It's an older neighbourhood and you will be getting those massive lots and the really beautiful mature trees. It is one of the prettiest neighbourhoods in Red Deer because it borders so many park areas and trees. 

You will almost always see wildlife in the neighbourhood. And the east side of the neighbourhood connects with some really beautiful trails along piper creek.

South Hill - Centrum Arena

One of the nicest places you can bring your family to is the historical museum in Sunnybrook Farms. Sunnybrook Farms is an old homestead c.1905 that has been preserved as a historical museum. 

At the museum there are tractor pull competitions, there are animals for the kids to look at like it's almost a little mini zoo and of course, you have the old preserved buildings which are really cool.

South Hill - Golf Course

It is also home to one of Red Deer’s top schools, the Ecole La Prairie and if your kids are in the public school division, nearby is the GW Smith Elementary School. If you have college kids, there’s the famous institute called Red Deer Polytechnic, formerly known as Red Deer College.

There are awesome little commercial and grocery stores in the neighbourhood but just on the north side is Bower Mall which is the best shopping mall in Red Deer.
