Timber Ridge is a newer east-side Red Deer neighbourhood planned for mixed housing, with Bee Park, a storm pond, Catholic school catchments and convenient access to regional recreation.
About Timber Ridge
Timber Ridge is a newer, planned residential neighbourhood on Red Deer’s east side, north of Highway 11 and near Range Road 271. Its identity comes from the Neighbourhood Area Structure Plan (NASP) framework rather than from an older, fully established street grid: the City lists the Timber Ridge NASP as a 2012 plan and explains that NASPs coordinate land use, road locations, residential types, parks, trails, density and storm-water facilities. Construction and build-out have therefore occurred in stages, and the neighbourhood should be understood as an evolving suburban area rather than a neighbourhood with one uniform construction date.
The approved planning concept provides for a mix of single-family and multi-family housing. In practical terms, buyers and renters should expect newer homes and a range of attached and detached formats, with the exact mix varying by phase and street. The City’s neighbourhood map identifies streets including Tanner Street, Templeton Crescent, Thayer Close, Thorndale Gate and Tyson Crescent, as well as the Timber Ridge Storm Pond. That map also labels Bee Park, giving the community a local open-space feature, although the map alone does not establish the full list of amenities or the dates each facility opened.
Homes, schools and recreation
School access is best described through current catchment information rather than assumptions about a school inside Timber Ridge. Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools lists Timber Ridge in the Father Henri Voisin School catchment and in the St. Joseph High School catchment; its published middle-school catchment information also lists Timber Ridge for St. Lorenzo Ruiz Middle School. The public-school division’s online table groups nearby east-side subdivisions in ways that do not provide a clearly named Timber Ridge row, so public-school assignment should be confirmed for the individual home with the division. Catchments and capacity can change.
For everyday outdoor activity, Bee Park and the storm-pond area are the neighbourhood’s identifiable local features. A short drive expands the options considerably: River Bend Golf & Recreation Area combines an 18-hole course with trails, Discovery Canyon and winter Nordic-sport facilities, while Canyon Ski Resort offers skiing and other seasonal adventure activities. These are regional destinations, not amenities that should be represented as being within Timber Ridge itself.
From a central point in Timber Ridge, driving distances are approximately 6 kilometres to Red Deer City Hall, 8 kilometres to Canyon Ski Resort, 7 kilometres to Collicutt Centre, and 7 kilometres to River Bend Golf Course; actual routes vary by entrance, destination point, traffic and road conditions. The neighbourhood’s east-side position provides practical access to Highway 11 and the broader city, while its newer setting means nearby services and streetscapes may continue to change as development proceeds.
From a property-search perspective, Timber Ridge is best assessed at the address level. Review a home’s apparent age, maintenance history, street position, nearby open space, school-boundary status and current competition rather than relying on a neighbourhood-wide pattern alone. Nicole can help put those practical details in context before you decide whether to move forward.
